PHASE 1: Software and External Functional Checks

Cause 1: Incorrect hardware expectation (The touchpad is not physically clickable) (Probability: 35%)

• Key signals: The user tries to physically press the touchpad expecting a mechanical travel or an audible "click", but the surface remains rigid.
• Quick checks:
  1. The GPD Win Mini 2025 touchpad is designed to be not physically clickable. Left and right "clicks" are performed exclusively via touch gestures (capacitive tap) on the surface.
  2. Alternatively, move the side hardware switch to "Mouse". In this mode, the L1 and R1 shoulder buttons act as left and right mouse clicks, respectively.

Cause 3: Faulty or oxidized "Gamepad/Mouse" physical switch (Probability: 15%)

• Key signals: You are trying to use the shoulder buttons (L1/R1) to click, but nothing happens. The switch on the left side of the device seems loose or unresponsive.
• Quick checks:
  1. Move the "Gamepad/Mouse" switch back and forth several times to remove any internal oxidation.
  2. Check if Windows detects the mode change (for example, if the joysticks stop moving the cursor when you switch to Gamepad mode).

Cause 4: Loose or oxidized touchpad FPC connector (Probability: 15%)

  5. Use a Fluke precision digital multimeter to check the continuity of the flat cable traces if visibly bent or damaged.
• Why it happens: In ultra-compact devices, vibrations or thermal expansion can cause the delicate FPC cable to partially slip out of its connectors.

Cause 5: Swollen battery deforming the touchpad (Probability: 10%)

• Key signals: The touchpad surface appears slightly raised, deformed, or does not respond uniformly to capacitive touch.
• Internal checks:
  1. Once the device is open, visually inspect the lithium battery positioned under the main components.
  2. If the battery shows even a minimal bulge, it will exert abnormal pressure against the underside of the touchpad. This constant pressure disrupts the capacitive sensor, preventing tap registration.
