Ghosting on the screen of the Onyx Boox Tab Ultra C Pro, evident under direct sunlight or high temperatures, is primarily (50%) caused by thermal drift of the electrophoretic fluid. Heat reduces viscosity, misaligning microparticles and making image residues visible; BSR algorithms often do not compensate adequately. A significant probability (27%) is a faulty NTC thermistor on the display's flat cable, which sends incorrect thermal readings, preventing the controller from applying the correct voltages.
When this sensor fails, the processor cannot adapt refresh times (waveform) to ambient thermal variations. Consequently, you will notice a persistent fading of blacks or the appearance of annoying residual halos during page turns.
Less frequently (10-8%), the problem may depend on firmware LUTs not optimized for extreme conditions or a malfunction of the display management PMIC. For a quick check, perform a complete "full refresh" (black-white flash) and test the device in a cool environment. If ghosting persists after this test, consult a technician for an in-depth diagnosis of the thermal sensor and display voltages. In case of structural damage to the panel, consider replacing the device.
