The PS4 with an indefinite flashing blue light (BLOD) and black screen indicates a block in the Power-On Self-Test (POST) of the Syscon. The most probable cause (65-75%) is a defect in the BGA solders of the APU (Accelerated Processing Unit) due to thermomechanical fatigue, a common structural problem with lead-free alloys. A key signal is the "Clamp Test": if slight pressure on the APU heatsink temporarily makes the white LED appear, APU reballing is almost certainly necessary, with an estimated cost between 100-200€ for professional intervention. Less probable (15-20%) is an anomaly of the APU's VRM (Voltage Regulator Module), which causes voltage instability (cost 80-150€).
When this module overheats or fails, the PS4 tends to shut down suddenly during gameplay, often requiring disconnecting and reconnecting the power cable to perform a new boot. Rarely (5-10%) it is NOR Flash firmware corruption or Syscon/APU misalignment, diagnosable with UART log reading (cost 80-120€). An HDMI encoder failure is less likely for BLOD, more often causing white light without video.
